From all the symptoms of a sinus infection, the most common symptom of the sinus infection is thought to be a congestion of the nose. Besides this there are many other things that can indicate that you have a sinus infection. For example a nasal phlegm that is colored green, some pain in the mouth, a headache, pain on the face and coughing are other symptoms of a sinus infection that you might have to deal with. Fever and a sore throat are also symptoms of a sinus infection, but they are less common. However, they might appear in many sinus infection cases, together with nausea.

To diagnose a sinus infection is not that hard. If the sinus infection that you have is at the beginning, doctors can very easily say if you have a sinus infection or not. However, if the symptoms of this sinus infection last for a longer period of time, then you sinus infection has evolved into a chronic sinusitis. This particular type of sinus infection can be a little more difficult to diagnose. If continual coughing is part of the symptoms that you have when suffering from a sinus infection, then the cause is because of a post nasal drip. This too can then lead to having a sore throat as another sinus infection symptom. Post nasal drip means that the mucus that is found in the back of your nose starts to drip down to the back part of your throat. If you have a headache as a symptom for sinus infection, the area that will be affected by this ache is right above the nose and between the eyes. We can safely say that the headache caused by a sinus infection is located in the cheek area. Furthermore, if you

have a sinus infection with this kind of symptom, the area where the pain is will also be very painful to even touch. A small thing, like moving your head from a side to another can agravate this pain if you have a sinus infection. The nasal phlegm that is one of the sinus infection symptoms consists of a green, sometimes yellow and thick mucus.

There are millions of people that suffer from sinus infection or have had a sinus infection at least once in their life. The reason for this many people affected by sinus infection is pollution or resistance to antibiotics.

Sinusitis is one of the most widely spread respiratory diseases in the United States. Each year, millions of individuals experience the discomfort of symptoms from some kind of sinus infection. Symptoms for sinus infection vary depending on the case and severity of your condition. In most cases, these symptoms will include headaches, fever, fatigue, nasal discharge, congestion or blockage.

Sinus symptoms can also be caused by colds, allergies and environmental irritants, which are more common than a bacterial sinus infection. That is why some people actually mistake sinusitis as the common cold and don’t really get proper medical treatment for it, thinking that the symptoms will go away and resolve on its own. Other than viral or bacterial causes for sinus infection or symptoms, your living conditions can also contribute to your sinusitis. Allergens may be present that may trigger sinus problems. If your head aches, you have blockage or congestion in your nasal passages, or you have a runny nose and this goes on for weeks without improvement, it is best to see your doctor and get a proper diagnosis to treat your sinus infection.Your doctor will be able to prescribe you antibiotics that will help you with your symptoms, as needed. An analgesic may also be prescribed at the same time, to aid in your sinusitis treatment if you are feeling too much pain.

Some over the counter medicines can also be taken for additional relief or comfort for other symptoms. But in most cases, an antibiotic will do just fine and will work successfully if taken the right way.Antibiotics are usually taken anywhere from 7 to 14 days continuously. The dosage and frequency of your intake would depend on the severity of your symptoms and the kind of infection you have. There are also different ways to take antibiotics.

Oral antibiotics are the most commonly prescribed antibiotics. Although it usually takes time for it to be effective because you have to wait for the medication to circulate your bloodstream before you feel any kind of relief from it. Nebulized antibiotics are getting more and more popular these days. With this type of antibiotic, a nebulizer or inhaler is used to administer the medication. With this method, you inhale the medication through your nose. This allows topical application of the medicine directly onto the infected areas providing a faster and more efficient treatment of your sinus infection. In select cases, the doctor may choose to give you antibiotics intravenously. This method allows the medication to directly enter your bloodstream through a direct injection to your vein and is instantly circulated through your system, giving you faster relief. This type of antibiotic usually lasts 4 – 6 weeks. If you have taken antibiotics according to the instructions given to you by your doctor and there is still no improvement in your condition after 14 days, stop taking any medication and consult your doctor.

A different treatment program may be prescribed for you or further tests may be needed to identify the type and severity of your condition. This composition is projected to inform readers about sinusitis treatment. For more topics about treating your sinusitis you can visit Sinusitis – Sinus Dynamics.

Nowadays there are many advertisements for pills that treat sinus infection and many people have come to think that all their headaches are caused by a sinus infection. This is very untrue, because there are many differences between a sinus infection headache and a headache caused by other problems.

When you have a sinus infection, one of the symptoms will surely be a headache. However, this headache that is caracteristic for sinusitis, which is a sinus infection, only happens while you are awake. The headaches that you might experience during the night are rarely, if ever, caused by a sinus infection. However, if there is any change in the pressure of the atmosphere or in the temperature, a sinus infection may appear together with a headache. To better understand this, here are some examples. If you are in an airplane, where there is a change in pressure, this is a good enough reason to suffer from a headache that was caused by your sinus, even if you do not suffer from any sinus infection. There are people that say that their headaches caused by the sinus appear when the whether changes. Those people do not necessarily have a very bad sinus infection. When you suffer from a headache or a pressure in your face that can be associated with a sinus infection, then there are some more symptoms that come along. A nasal blockage is almost always found in sinus infection problems. For this symptom of a sinus infection there are special nose sprays that you can buy from the pharmacy, no prescription needed.

There are a lot of factors that can cause a sinus infection. The most common reason why one can develop a sinus infection is because an upper respiratory problem. This has caused the person to have a swelling or a blockage in his/ her nose. As a result, your sinus may be affected, leading to a sinus infection. Sinusitis, which is a sinus infection, can be at first caused by a viral infection of the sinus. However, after a few days, this sinus infect on can become a bacterial infection. If this is the case, then you will experience pus in your nose. People that suffer from sinus infections on a regular bases can also have one or even more conditions that make them susceptible to sinus infection. There causes that add up to sinus infection risk are a deviated septum, polyps or allergies.

Many people nowadays are affected by sinus infections. There are so many people that suffer from sinus infections, that in some countries alone there are more than five hundred thousand surgeries that are performed every year to help you get rid of a sinus infection.

The medical term for a sinus infection is sinusitis. Sinus infection can be acute or chronic. What happens in cases of sinus infection is that the sinuses found in your nose get inflammed. These sinuses that are found in your nose are cavities which are hollow and can be found near your eyes. In most of the sinus infection cases, the main reasons are structural problems, allergies or infections. Sinus infections can also be triggered by a cold. The acute form of the sinus infection lasts less than a month. If you see that the symptoms for sinus infection continue after this period and that they even get worse, you might have another problem. Chronic sinus infection lasts about four months. One of the diseases that has been associated with a chronic sinus infection case is allergies. The inhalation of allergens, which in turn trigger an allergic reaction is also another reason for a chronic sinus infection. Furthermore, people that suffer from asthma are also more at risk of developing the chronic form of sinus infection than others. The weather can also affect many people that suffer from chronic sinus infection.

The treatment for chronic sinus infection is simple, but to treat this type of sinus infection successfully is a little more difficult. The main reason is because symptoms of sinus infection tend to last longer even when you have an antibiotics treatment for sinus infection. The main drugs used in treating a sinus infection that is chronic are decongestants and antibiotics. Nasal sprays are also used in patients that have a chronic sinus infection. There are some side effects that should be taken into consideration before starting the sinus infection treatmnet.any of the antihistamines that you can buy without a prescription to treat your sinus infection can cause drowsiness. The decongestants used in treating the chronic sinus infection can also elevate blood pressure and faster your heart rate. You might also have problems sleeping when using this sinus infection treatment. If you use nasal steroids to treat the sinus infection, be very careful because it can cause nose bleeds and crusts.

A sinus infection can make you miserable and the end result to get rid of it is usually is by a round of antibiotics and decongestants. Nevertheless, what if you can cure sinus infection at home naturally with some things already in your kitchen cabinet? You not only can save money on a doctor’s visit and prescription, but you can also keep your body from building resistance to live-saving antibiotics.
Essential oils have been used for centuries to treat everything from headaches to ant bites, so it stands to reason that they are also a way to cure sinus infection at home naturally. Oregano oil is a popular essential oil used to care for sinus problems as it has some great anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. Just put a few drops of oregano oil in some water or juice several times in a day and less than a few days, your sinus infection symptoms typically go away.
To help the break up of sinus congestion which often leads to sinus infection, mix a drop or two of peppermint essential oil with some olive oil and massage into the aching sinus areas like the area above the eyes and around the nose. Very soon your nose will start running which allows you to blow your nose and drive out that potential infection-causing mucus. Adding eucalyptus into your humidifier every night is another way to cure sinus infection at home naturally.
Using salt water rinses of your sinuses daily is a way to prevent sinus infections altogether. Of course, it takes some practice doing it manually so you might want to consider of getting Neti pot which is perfectly shaped to tip into a nostril. This special pot has a well inside specially made in which you can mix your warm water and salt.
Apple cider vinegar is also another pantry item that can cure sinus infection. Usually, a few teaspoons of apple cider vinegar a day are enough to put off most colds, flu and sinus problems. Nonetheless, if a sinus infection looks like it is sneaking up on you, mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in an eight ounce glass of water for three to four times a day. Apple cider vinegar can help quickly thins your mucus so that it can be expelled easier. Within a few days, you should feel a lot better and you likely will have successfully fought off a sinus infection!
One of the best home remedies that you could do when you have severe sinus infections is by using a teapot or any pot or pan to emanate a clean vapor after you boil an ample amount of water in it. Position your face near the teapot where the vapor is coming out from and it would serve as your humidifier to open up your sinuses. Hopefully, in no time, you will enjoy better breathing and fewer headaches
Another great home remedy for severe sinus infection that you can easily do at home is making a glass of hot lemonade with fresh lemons. All you have to do is to follow the instructions of regular lemonade, but use hot water instead of cold. This home remedy for severe sinus infection is enormous in the sense that it protects you from fevers, colds or the flu because of the lemon’s antibacterial and antivirus properties. In addition, it instantly makes you feel calmer and have a soothed which is very comforting during a sinus related illness.
If you are not anxious of using herbal medicines, then feel free to use Oregon grapefruit as one of your home remedies for severe sinus infections. The Oregon grapefruit is very helpful in treating your sinus infection because it is a natural antibiotic that instantly kills bacteria. Preparing this kind of medication at home could never be easier since you can buy it from specialty stores in the form of pills or capsules.
However, like many other herbals concoctions, the Oregon grapefruit should be avoided if you are pregnant. Always seek your physician before starting any new pill or supplement when you are pregnant, nursing or suffering from a chronic condition.
If you need to find a fast way to relieve your sinus infections, the best remedy that you must try is called Sinus Cones. Sinus Cones are confirmed to be very effective and safe even if they are the most powerful decongestion relief that gives you comfort even when you are sleeping.
The Sinus Cones reduce your intake of chemical medications such as antibiotics just to alleviate the sinus congestion that you are feeling. Your nasal passages are opened and the remedial is rushed in such a way that it gives you great airflow relief from your blocked sinuses or congested air passageways.
To cure a sinus infection at home in nature means relying on some age old wisdom that has been handed down for centuries. The reason why these “folk remedies” have staying power is that they really work for many people with maladies from colds to flu to sinus infections. As a result, if you want to find even more ways to cure sinus infection at home naturally, head to your library for a little research or the internet.

The sinuses (say: sy-nus-is) are air-filled spaces found in the bones of the head and face. Sinuses start developing before you are born and some of them keep growing until you’re about 20. There are four pairs of sinuses, or eight in all. They are located on either side of the nose in your cheeks, behind and between the eyes, in the forehead, and at the back of the nasal cavity.

Sinus infection, or sinusitis, is an inflammation of the sinuses and nasal passages. A sinus infection can cause a headache or pressure in the eyes, nose, cheek area, or on one side of the head. A person with a sinus infection may also have a cough, a fever, bad breath, and nasal congestion with thick nasal secretions. Sinusitis is categorized as acute (sudden onset) or chronic (long term, the most common type).

Acute sinusitis usually follows a viral infection in the upper respiratory tract, but

allergens (allergy-causing substances), or pollutants may also trigger acute sinusitis. A viral infection causes damage to the cells of the sinus lining, which leads to inflammation. The lining thickens with fluid that obstructs the nasal passage. This passage connects to the sinuses.

Most cases of acute sinusitis start with a common cold, which is caused by a virus. Colds can inflame your sinuses and cause symptoms of sinusitis. Both the cold and the sinus inflammation usually go away without treatment within 2 weeks. If the inflammation produced by the cold leads to a bacterial infection, however, then this infection is what health experts call acute sinusitis.

Causes of Sinus Infection

Fungus infection is known to cause sinus infection. Fungi are found profusely in our environment but it is harmless to humans as we have a natural resistance to fungi. But you must beware of the common black mold which we may find in our homes. Black mold can only proliferate in moist and damp areas. These are the areas where natural sunlight cannot reach. If nothing is done and you breathe in these mold spores regularly, your body’s natural immune system could fall drastically.

The sinuses are air-filled spaces in the skull (behind the forehead, nasal bones, cheeks, and eyes) that are lined with mucus membranes. Healthy sinuses contain no bacteria or other organisms (they are sterile) and are open, allowing mucus to drain and air to circulate.

There are also various kinds of bacteria that can also cause sinus infections. In addition the cilia, which are small hairs in the nasal passages and sinus cavities that help to move mucous out of the nasal area, can get damaged by smoke, lack of humidity or other causes. When this happens the mucous stagnates and becomes a perfect area for bacteria to grow and start an infection. Allergies to food and other substances can also be a cause of food allergies.

Treatment of Sinus Infection

Silver Sinus was developed specifically to address these findings. When you go to a doctor looking for a sinus infection cure, the normal course of action is to prescribe antibiotics.

Sinus surgery may have to be done to clean out the accumulated mucus and infection and to enlarge the drain hole to allow better mucus drainage.

As the sinus infection clears up, the sinus headaches should disappear. In the meantime, over-the-counter pain relievers, decongestants and saline nasal spray might help you feel better. Use these products only as directed. It may help to drink plenty of fluids as well.

If unfortunately you have sinus infection, then it is
better to know about it in detail so that you may take adequate
measures to control it and live a better life!

Sinusitis or sinus infection is a lingering
troublesome ailment which ultimately tells on the general
health. Sinus infection symptoms are very similar to that of
the common cold and viral influenza. Because of this, many
people are not even aware that they are suffering from
sinusitis until their condition has turned into chronic sinus
infection.

What
are Paranasal Sinuses?

There are 4 pairs of paranasal sinuses
within our skull. They are the maxillary sinuses which are
located behind the cheekbones below the eyes; the ethmoid
sinuses located between the eyes; the frontal sinuses in the
forehead above the eyebrows and the sphenoid sinuses are
located behind the ethmoids in the upper region of the nose and
behind the eyes.

What
is a Sinus Infection?

Sinus infection refers to the condition
whereby the mucosal lining of the sinuses is inflamed.

The sinuses are cavities and inside these
cavities are mucosal linings. The lining of the sinuses
provides a very important and essential function in that they
protect the body from dust, pollens, other foreign matter and
pathogens in the air we breathe.

The surface of this lining is made up of
soft membrane-like tissues which is densely populated with
microscopic hair-like cilia. The cilia act like oars to drain
the mucus produced naturally by the body. These mucus, together
with trapped allergens and pathogens, are then flushed out to
the stomach via the back of the throat.

This is the way your body prevents bacteria
load from building up within the nasal passages. Healthy and
proper cilia function is essential for optimum nasal health.
When mucociliary function becomes dysfunctional, inflammation
of the mucous membranes results and sinus obstruction caused by
abnormal secretions of mucus within the sinus cavities lead to
an increased pressure. This then translates into pain and
discomfort.

Our body’s natural defences in the nose
reacts to bacterial or virus intrusion by forming extra mucus.
If this extra mucus production cannot drain off efficiently,
they tend to block the natural ventilation through the sinuses.
The result is an infection caused by these bacteria and virus
proliferating in a conducive environment. Hence the term
sinus infection.

The abnormal amount of mucus production
leads to increased episodes of post nasal drip. Increased
post-nasal drip activity is a significant sinus
infection symptom.

Normally, the human body hosts bacteria like
streptococcus and the like with no adverse effects.

It is only when the body’s natural defences
are low that these pathogens get an upper hand.

People suffering from “http://www.sinusinfectionhelp.com/fungal_sinus_infection.html”
target=”new”>fungal
infections, allergic reactions to certain types
of food and drugs, related illnesses such as bronchitis,
asthma and HIV, have a higher chance of
sinusitis recurring.

So, can sinus infection cause you pain and
discomfort? The answer is, undoubtedly, yes! Sinus infection
symptoms include puffy eyes and early morning headaches in the
frontal sinus region. Soreness and tenderness in the areas
below the eye sockets are common.

Many will also feel discomfort and pain in
the region between the eyes. Sinus pressure, sinus headache and
sinus pain are commonly used terms to describe such
discomfort.

Sinus infection affects nearly 37 million
Americans annually. Some people may be born with a
predisposition towards sinus infection, whereas other people
could develop it after an accident or surgery which changes the
anatomy of the nose.

Correspondingly, millions of dollars are
spent in search for a long-term effective treatment. Today, ENT
specialists utilize a procedure known as “http://www.sinusinfectionhelp.com/nasal_endoscopy.html”
target=”new”>Nasal
Endoscopy to diagnose sinus infection. This
involves inserting a flexible fiber-optic tube with a light
and camera at its tip into the nose to examine the nasal
passages and sinuses. If the condition is deemed acute or
chronic, an x-ray or CT scan of the sinuses
may be called as well.

target=”new”>Sinus infection
treatment options for mild cases of sinus
infection include decongestants, pain killers and
antibiotics. In chronic cases, doctors will
prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs such as steroid nasal
sprays together with oral corticosteroids.

For young children, the usage of steroids
has to be monitored closely for it can inhibit their growth if
taken for long periods. Surgery is undertaken as a last
recourse. Home remedies for sinus infection consist of
inhalation of steam, saline nasal flushes and hot compresses
placed on the forehead and facial region.

“FONT-SIZE: 12pt”>Precautions when you have a sinus
infection

Do not swim where the pools have much
chlorine in them during a sinus infection.

Air travel during an attack of sinusitis can
be extremely uncomfortable and should be avoided if possible,
otherwise eustachian tube dysfunction could result.

The bottom line is to lead a temperate life
breathing in clean, fresh air and daily cleansing of the sinus
passages through “http://www.sinusinfectionhelp.com/nasal_irrigation.html”
target=”new”>nasal
irrigation which is an all natural cure sinus
infection remedy adopted by millions worldwide.

This should effectively help in the control
of recurring sinus infection.

Sinusitis is an acute or account upset made by the swelling of the nasal passages and rubor of the sinuses. The swollen nasal passages create a obstruction and the nasal discharges cannot be evicted; in clip infection looks.

Causes

Most cases of acute sinusitis start with a common cold, which is caused by a virus. Colds can inflame your sinuses and cause symptoms of sinusitis. Both the cold and the sinus inflammation usually go away without treatment within 2 weeks. If the inflammation produced by the cold leads to a bacterial infection, however, then this infection is what health experts call acute sinusitis.

Sinus problems can be caused by many things- you have to think about environmental and food allergies (allergic sinusitis), chronic sinus infection, and chronic colds. Without more information, it’s hard to be specific. Sinusitis often develops after colds, and can become a chronic problem.

Acute sinusitis usually follows a viral infection in the upper respiratory tract, but allergens (allergy-causing substances), or pollutants may also trigger acute sinusitis. A viral infection causes damage to the cells of the sinus lining, which leads to inflammation. The lining thickens with fluid that obstructs the nasal passage. This passage connects to the sinuses. The obstruction disrupts the process that removes bacteria normally present in the nasal passages, and the bacteria begin to multiply and invade the lining of the sinus. This causes the symptoms of sinus infection. Allergens and pollutants produce a similar effect.

Symptoms

The symptoms of sinus infection are general weakness and lethargy, nasal congestion, rhinitis or runny nose and it is also common to have fever and headache in all types of sinus infection.

Some people will find difficulty in their focus. Their eyes are especially sensitive to bright lights. A chronic sore throat which does not seem to heal could mean the presence of sinus infection. Serous otitis media, a condition where the eustachian tubes are blocked by mucus, could also point to sinus infection.

Prevention is the best treatment. A little effort of prevention is priceless; you can get by without having a sinusitis infection. Bacteria can be the cause of this condition, taking in healthy foods and supplements can strengthen your immune system which can lessen the occurrence of a sinus infection as well as dizziness. Proper medication and equipment can prevent bacterial infections; this can also lessen the severity of the sinus infection.

Preventing sinusitis can be made by avoiding all form of pollution, thorns, allergic reactions and common colds. In lawsuit of common colds and allergic reactions that cannot be forbade, apply short-term nasal decongestants during the onsets. Blow your olfactory organ carefully so you dont amend the sinuses; drink many fluids to hydrate the sinus membranes, maintain the nasal passages clear from mucous secretion and aid drainage by saline solutions.

Treatment

Antibiotics are medicines meant to fight bacterial infections. Since most sinus infections are caused by bacteria, it is quite a common practice for doctors to prescribe antibiotics for its treatment.

The type of antibiotics prescribed by the doctor, however, depends on the type of bacterial infection you are suffering from.

Surgery to clean and drain the sinuses may also be necessary, especially in patients with recurrent episodes of inflammation despite medical treatment. An ENT specialist, also known as an otolaryngologist, can perform this surgery.

Most fungal sinus infections require surgery. Surgical repair of a deviated septum or nasal polyps may prevent recurrence.
